Characterized as “the Internet’s highest honor,” the Webbys identify excellence across Websites, Video, Advertising, Media & PR, Social, Apps, Mobile, & Voice, Games, and Podcasts.
Locus: A Webby Nominee and Honoree
Locus Clinician, an app that helps medical providers stay connected to their patients via secure data sharing, is a nominee for Best Visual Design - Function in the Apps, Mobile, and Voice category and an honoree for Health & Fitness in the Apps, Mobile, and Voice category. The app has helped hospitals such as UVA Children’s Hospital and OSHU Children’s Hospital achieve better patient outcomes, including reduced readmission rates and shorter lengths of stay.
WillowTree partnered with Locus across strategy, design, and development of the app to create a simple and easy experience for clinicians to access patient data. Results for Locus’ health system partners using the app include:
- 40% decrease in post-discharge ER visits at UVA’s Children’s CDH
- 8 day reduction in the average length of stay at UVA NICU
- 11 day reduction in length of stay at OSHU Children’s Hospital
National Geographic: A Webby Winner
National Geographic, whose mobile app won the People’s Voice Award in 2019, was honored in 2020 as the Webby Winner in News & Magazines under Apps, Mobile, and Voice. The National Geographic app includes articles, photos, and videos for users to enjoy, with years of engaging content accessible at their fingertips.
WillowTree partnered with National Geographic to help create a product roadmap, build an extensible mobile app platform, and update the backend systems. The app brings all of National Geographic’s revenue streams and consumer touchpoints into one platform to deliver amazing experiences and provide deeper analytics into user preferences and behavior.
Catalyst, Inc: A Webby Nominee
Catalyst, Inc is a global nonprofit working with some of the world’s leading companies to help build workplaces that work for women. Catalyst and it’s PR partner, The Burns Group, received a Webby nomination for Best Cause-Related Campaign in the Advertising, Media, and PR category, honoring the the #BiasCorrect campaign that they launched for International Women’s Day in March 2020. The annual campaign seeks to interrupt unconscious bias by highlighting the power of words used to describe women in the workplace, utilizing a photo generator and Slack plug-in.
As a part of the 2020 campaign efforts, WillowTree partnered with Catalyst to update the Slack plug-in, which helps users identify and address how they might be exhibiting unconscious bias in their workplace chats. The team made the plug in available as an open-source code, and it can be adapted for other instant-messaging platforms.
