My Love for Words 2013

2013 was quite the year! I started My Love for Words on January 9 knowing absolutely nothing about blogging. I really can’t believe I had the nerve to start knowing as little as I did and without a plan in place, but I knew I had stories and projects I wanted to share so I figured it was worth a shot.

For the first seven months of life, this little blog wasn’t doing too much. I had our 4th child and actually put an end to the blog for a while in the spring. Despite being busy with all that comes with a big family, I was surprised to find that I missed blogging. It helps to keep me accountable, and I wanted to document and photograph the stuff I was doing so I started blogging again in August. I consider Fall 2013 to be the blog’s real launch since I was finally able to start putting more time and effort into it and had a better idea of what I was doing.

Since August, I’ve had an absolute blast. Creating and writing the posts is a lot of fun, but my favorite part of this blogging thing is connecting with my readers and other bloggers. I have received such wonderful feedback on projects, recipes, and printables, and it really encourages me to keep going so Thank You! As a stay at home mom, some days that connection is the only thing helping me maintain my sanity.

I thought we’d end 2013 with a little stroll down memory lane…

Easy Easter Bunny Art

My Easy Easter Bunny Art post was really popular, and since it was so easy to do I did another version for Halloween, which can be here here: Easy Halloween Art. (Coming up with creative titles is obviously my specialty.)

In June, my husband and I celebrated 5 years of marriage. I shared my 5 Tips for a Happy Marriage and how I created this sentimental $0 Anniversary Gift.

2013 was also marked with a little organizing. I said “a little.” There’s a reason I posted an Organized Utensil Drawer and not an entire room (seriously, click through to see the before pics… if you dare!). The good news is that I have lots of projects lined up for 2014 (if not the next decade!). One of my biggest challenges in organizing is the maintenance, and I’m happy to say that this drawer still looks as good as it did when I first organized it five months ago. (That’s no small feat around these parts!)

I also made my first Peppermint Sugar Scrub and five different printable label options. These were great and inexpensive Christmas gifts, but they can be customized for any time of year by changing the scent.

I have had so much fun sharing my recipes with you directly and through guests posts. I’ve shared some of my absolute, all time favorites, and I really hope you’ll try them because you will not be disappointed.

Caprese Bites

If you’re looking for an easy appetizer, these Caprese Bites are fantastic. They’re bite sized but still pack a huge flavor punch, which is the perfect combo in my book.

This category has gotten a lot of attention and has even earned me the title of “Queen of Printables” from other bloggers a couple times, which cracks me up! I love lists (obviously), and these really help me stay on track. I’ll be using quite a few of them in 2014 for my resolutions.

This Project To Do List has been very helpful for completing complicated tasks. I’ve already created a Goal Tracker and a Food and Exercise Tracker, both of which will be my new bffs in the coming year.

This Meal Plan & Grocery Shopping List has helped us tremendously in eating more at home. I also created a Cleaning Checklist that helps us stay on top of household duties.

I’ve made a lot of other printables, all of which you can access for free by visiting my Facebook page and clicking “Free Downloads.”

What a year! Believe it or not, I’ve edited myself in this post. Feel free to browse around to check out other posts like Momopause: the symptoms and how you can tell if you’re infected, various other recipes, and my ever growing library of free printables.

So, if you’re still reading, I want to say another big THANK YOU for a great year. I have a huge project planned for 2014… and the best part is that you all get to participate. Since this post is already soooo long, I’ll share more details on that tomorrow. See you then!
