RocketSpace’s Mobility Tech Innovation Collaborative was created with this aim in mind — connecting a syndicate of forward-thinking corporate partners with the top startups to ignite innovation within the transportation and mobility tech sector.

Two successful cohorts of the global program have been completed with BP, the founding partner, leading the charge alongside with Avis Budget Group, Magna, Allstate, IBM and Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi.

Startup participants gain unique piloting experience and invaluable access to the corporate partner’s resources to continue to grow their ventures. The partnerships formed go beyond the program, with an opportunity for investment from the corporates.

One such example of this comes from Cohort 1 startup participant FreeWire, an electric vehicle charging startup based out of California. Over the course of the program, BP and FreeWire partnered and pilot tested FreeWire’s mobile fast charging technology. The success from the pilot resulted in a $5 million invested from BP, aimed at deploying FreeWire’s technology into BP stations across Europe.

Beyond the exposure and partnership opportunities, the Mobility Tech Innovation Collaborative is completely free and completely virtual — ensuring that it does not disrupt your day-to-day business operations. The program involvement averages five or fewer hours a week.

What drives the success of the Mobility Tech Innovation Collaborative are the corporate partners working together to discover what’s next for transportation. BP is leading the charge along with Avis, Magna, Allstate, IBM and Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi.

The corporates work hand-in-hand with the startup participants, to pilot, test, explore and learn how the implementation their emerging technologies will drive real-world change in the mobility tech and transportation space.

Extensive industry research and each corporate partner’s goals areas are the driving factors for the program’s focus areas:

  • How can we increase connected vehicle integration?
  • How can we improve the current consumer experience of automated and electric vehicles?
  • How can we increase electric vehicle life efficiency?
  • How can we increase electric vehicle consumer adoption through improving the charging experience?
  • How can we increase the safety of autonomous vehicles?
  • What are new products or services that will drive the future of mobile transportation?

This project will benefit and grow, for example, from innovative startup thinking and rethinking how electric vehicles are charged. An entrepreneur in the startup world is on the same bandwidth of thinking.
