A colorful Airstream trailer is eBay’s latest marketing gimmick to attract shoppers to its marketplace. While it may seem a bit of a strange marketing exercise, it is an interesting and fun way to bring people to the platform.
The “Did You Check eBay” Holiday Airstream started out in New York City on Black Friday. Shoppers in Manhattan’s busy Greeley Square could enter the vehicle to find some of eBay’s latest AI technology to search for shopping ideas.
And for those familiar with Manhattan, it was just down the street from Macy’s flagship Herald Square store. No word if Hal Lawton stopped by
The Airstream also had a hot cocoa machine and an interactive claw machine game. All in a bit of fun to entertain leary shoppers cruising around Manhattan.
For the Airstream’s holiday tour start, celebrities like Kat Graham, Crissa Jackson, and Anna De Souza popped in for a visit to mingle with shoppers.
eBay promoted all their new innovations and services such as guaranteed delivery, price match, image search, and the new landing pages and search options.
The Airstream will make additional visits in other U.S. cities throughout the holiday season. Here is a list of when and where you can find this attraction coming to your town.
- Chicago: Pioneer Court, November 30 and December 1
- Denver: Christkindl Market, December 4 and 5
- Seattle: Westlake Center Plaza, December 9 and 10
- San Jose: Cesar Chavez Plaza Christmas in the Park, December16 and 17
But if you do not have a chance to check out eBay’s colorful Airstream, they do offer an online version with all the deals they are showcasing at the stops.
If you are in one of the stop cities and you have time to check out this mobile advertising for eBay, drop us a line what you think. We know it’s a bit quirky, but let’s not forget Amazon has the Treasure Truck, so it is just a way of online services to connect with real shoppers.
