While Chinese multinationals like Lenovo and Huawei were already well-known names in India much before the start of the smartphone revolution, newer Chinese entrants to the Indian smartphone scene, like Oppo, Vivo, Gionee, Xiaomi, Coolpad and OnePlus were completely unknown commodities in the country until just a few months ago. However, much to the amazement of analysts, observers and enthusiasts alike, many of these relatively newer companies have been warmly embraced by the Indian smartphone buying public over the past year, ever since Xiaomi created ripples by announcing its entry into the Indian smartphone space in 2014, by bringing high-quality devices at rock-bottom prices. However, even as Chinese smartphone manufacturers are continuing to make inroads into the Indian smartphone market, one of the persistent uncertainties regarding these companies happens to be their after-sales service.
That being the case, OnePlus is now stepping up to the plate to show its commitment towards Indian consumers by opening its first exclusive service center in the country. According to reports, the service center has come up in the Southern city of Bengaluru, Karnataka. Commenting on the opening of the facility, OnePlus India’s general manager, Mr. Vikas Agarwal, announced that the company is “thrilled” to have launched its first exclusive service center in the country. According to Mr. Agarwal, “With this launch, we embark on a journey of a renewed commitment to resolve customer issues within an hour. Our promise to our fans is to offer exceptional smartphone experience while complementing it with world-class support and infrastructure. This is yet another step in fulfilling that commitment”.
OnePlus claims that it intends to launch five more exclusive service centers next month in New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai. OnePlus is not only promising a super-fast turnaround time of 1-hour at these facilities, but also says that people visiting these centers will have the option to take a hands-on look at the company’s smartphones before making a purchase. With the company just weeks away from releasing its much talked-about OnePlus 3, it remains to be seen if this new step is able to lure new customers into the OnePlus fold.
