10 fastest UK parkrun times on 18th February (2023)
Dani Nimmock and Jack Millar ran the fastest parkrun times in the UK this weekend (18th February).
Our weekly parkrun top ten is sponsored by 1001 Running Tips by our editor Robbie Britton. Want to run faster at parkrun in 2023 or your next marathon then order your copy today.(PBs not guaranteed, but very likely).
Just one second separated the fastest two ladies this week with Dani Nimmock running 17:05 at Gunpowder parkrun and Holly Dixon clocking 17:06 at Sutcliffe parkrun. If there is alien life out there and they have the ability to watch all UK parkruns simultaneously then this was an exciting battle for first this week.
Nimmock, of City of Norwich AC, has a 2:38:18 marathon PB set just last year at October London Marathon and has already been in winning form in 2023 at the Norfolk Gazelles Valentine 10K, on the 12th Feb, with 34:29.
In her first race (that isn’t a race) of 2023 Dixon returns to the event that saw her 16:39 parkrun PB back in January 2022. With a 15:59 best on the road for 5k, the Cambridge Harrier clearly has the wheels to fly around a parkrun and hopefully 2023 has some enjoyable races ahead for the cross country specialist.
AT Brockwell parkrun in Herne Hill, south London it was Jack Millar who finished first. Having run the event there I know it’s a hilly one, so 15:02 is a really strong result! It’s a parkrun PB for the 14:20 5k runner who has already been in action four times over the country in 2023, with three wins and fourth at the Midland Counties Championships.
Next on the virtual podiums
The third fastest female was only another five seconds back from the quickest two. Rebecca Murray, of Bedford & County AC, ran 17:11 at Great Denham parkrun. The 2:39 marathoner won a Chiltern League XC in Jan, as well as placing 18th at the highly competitive Cross Internacional Juan Muguerza in Spain in the same month.
Alexander Miell-Ingram was the second quickest male with 15:16 at Poole parkrun on the south coast of England. After a 2022 that saw PBs at nearly every distance, the challenge we all want to see Alexander beat this year is sub four minutes for 1500 with just 2 milliseconds being the difference last year with 4:00:02.
At Pegwell Bay Ben Burton was the third fastest man with 15:18, but Jack Kavanagh equalled the time with 15:18 at Dulwich parkrun as well. It is a massive jump from the 17:49 Burton ran at the same parkrun in January, with a 101st at Northern Counties in between. Kavanagh ran a new parkrun PB of 15:08 two weeks ago and seems to have hit the new year flying already!
A shout out to Ollie Garrod from Team Hour 7 in 10th spot for the chaps. The holder of the record for “most parkrun first finishes” added to his tally at Nonsuch parkrun just one week after jumping to second on the British all-time list for 50km with 2:51:25.
The fastest course?
Dulwich parkrun in SE London had three hits this week so the title goes to the super speedy course this week.
