Auld Ayr – what’s happening to the High Street? The Ayrshire’s Coastal Path a visit to watch Ayr United . Catching up with family. Kilimanjaro update.
After a good evening in Beith I was pretty tired and had an early night after my 200 mile Plus drive. I had been down visiting my sisters and being looked after so well as always .
The presentation to my nieces daughter had gone well of her well earned Baden Powell Award for Guiding.
Sadly next Morning after family coffee I had a wander round Ayr High Street so many shops gone many of the big brands. It was sad to see such a thriving town centre looking in need of some investment and care.
I met an old pal Brian not seen him for 40 years and we had coffee.
I had planned a walk along the beach but only managed a couple of miles as I was running out of time. Yet it was busy but so mild with a warm wind. It’s a lovely area and the Ayrshire Coastal path is a great amenity. It follows along the coast so many folk were out enjoying it. There were Still no views of Arran sadly but at least I had a short walk before the Ayr United game v Dunfermline at Somerset Park.
I went with my nephew Richard his last game was at Manchester United v PSG in the Champions league. This was a bit different. The Ayr ground has hardly changed since I supported them with. My Dad and Mum in the 60’s. It’s a old ground that seeps of footballing history and their was a good crowd. Sadly Ayr lost to a penalty but I enjoyed the game but not the result.
Photo – Richard gets the pies in.
It was then over to my other sisters Eleanor for another great meal and watch the Rugby a great win for Wales v England. Well done Wales.
It was then get sorted for leaving tomorrow another early night as I am hoping to go back by the West coast. I plan to hopefully
visit Elma in Crianlarich then Hamish in Glencoe and Sue in Onich then home. It will add to the day but good to see old pals.
Today Yvette (my stepdaughter)should be on her last day on her trip to Kilimanjaro. I hope she is going well and summits. News has been hard to come by as it is on big mountains. Yet I hope she has had a great experience of a big mountain another culture and has enjoyed it. I and all her family are so proud of her. Safe journey .
I have to get back for my chat in Elgin on Tuesday night. Is the winter over I doubt that.
