A House Of Hackney Cushion Cover

If you’re anything like me, you need a badger in your life. Preferably, one holding a cocktail!

I don’t know about you, but I simply can’t concentrate on complex sewing projects right now. Also, I have a big stash to delve into and a desire to make my home an even happier place to be in. For obvious reasons.

So, I dug out this House Of Hackney velvet, from their 2011 Hackney Empire range. Isn’t it to die for?

I took a lot of care over this make. After all, House Of Hackney fabric is not cheap, even in their sample sales.

Do you like my piping? I just use household string! The detail of piping really finishes off a cushion.

And the animals in this fabric! Frog in a bowler hat? Hookah-smoking sloth? A creature playing the accordian? It’s soooo whimsical.

House Of Hackney cushions retail for £150+, so I was very glad of my sewing skills and my gimlet eye for a sample sale, even if this fabric has waited ages to be used.

I inserted a zip, with a touch of head scratching. Goodness knows, I want to keep this velvet laundered.

All I need to do now, is keep Ella off this cushion. She loves velvet – and who wouldn’t when it’s as gorgeous as this?

If you can’t afford House Of Hackney prices, I strongly recommend some of the recent Lisa Comfort Home range of upholstery fabric. It’s very in the zone, and having ordered some of their cotton, I am currently sewing roman blinds for the same vibe.

How are you keeping up your sewing mojo?
