Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 28.  Here we are again – as happy as can be. Three fairly obvious choices this GW, though the two most obvious are maybe not that obvious, given recent events. Plus there’s a differential that’ll make your socks roll down then back up again.

Sergio Aguero

Pros: I thought I’d get Kun out of the way with first. Non-owners are probably giggling with nerves in order to stop themselves crapping all over the floor with anxiety about not having him. The pros should be fairly evident, but for those not paying attention: 7 goals in the last 4 games, 16 shots on goal and he practically lives in the opposition’s penalty area.

Cons: Not many. However some may fret about rotation, or a cameo appearance, given a gruelling league cup final. Or rather, those who dropped him for Auba this week may try to play mind-games with those who kept hold of him. But if you fancy a game of Russian Roulette, there are a couple of decent alternatives out there.

Raúl Jiménez

Pros: This choice was going to be Auba but I thought I’d single out the excellent Jiménez. Wolves create and Huddersfield concede a lot of chances. Goals have been flying in against Huddersfield recently. It’s a good mix and while I know you probably won’t captain him, he’s arguably not a terrible vice-captain choice. 4 goals in the last 4 games is second only to the mighty Kun.

Cons: There are arguably more rational choices – see The Ones who Got Away below.

Mo Salah

Pros: 50% ownership = you will be hurt badly if he scores a couple on Wednesday. And he will need to find his scoring boots pretty soon. Liverpool will not win the league with a series of draws.

Cons: Not in the greatest of fantasy form recently – no soothing double-digit hauls since the Crystal Palace game. Liverpool are not creating many chances at the moment. Firmino will be missed.

Daniel Sturridge

I know, I know. I saw 0.9% ownership and my eyes lit up. Go on, Aguero owners – you know it’s a rational swap. Plenty of change as well to completely destroy your side prior to GW31. Sturridge won’t let you down, honestly. We’ll see how Firmino’s ankle is first, but I’ve every confidence that Sturridge will step in and not only get Liverpool’s title chase back on track, but help you towards some green arrows.

The Ones who Got Away
Sterling, Aubameyang (home v a very leaky Bournemouth), Hazard, Mane.

Best of luck.
