Niseko boasts a generous selection of onsens which can be found all around the Niseko area, with many located around the Annupuri area. Relaxing in an onsen is the best way to soothe aching joints and muscles after a long day on the mountain. Visitors can enjoy “Toji”, the practice of relaxing in the geothermally heated, mineral-rich water as a form of therapy. Onsen are an integral part of Japanese culture and the practice of relaxing in hot springs and is a custom that dates back to ancient times.
1. GOSHIKI ONSEN
This onsen uses natural water fresh from Mt. Iwanopuri – where this onsen is located. This onsen is one of the most popular in the Niseko area, especially in summer.
2. HILTON NISEKO VILLAGE
Located at the Hilton in Niseko Village, this large onsen features spacious indoor and outdoor baths. The stunning setting overlooks a pond and has views of the iconic Mt. Yotei.
3. HIRAFUTEI ONSEN
Niseko Prince Hotel Hirafutei is one of Hirafu’s most popular hotels and hosts this stunning onsen. The location is very central and is easily accessible. It is also perfectly situated with Mt. Yotei views from the women’s bath and Mt. Annupuri views from the men’s bath.
4. HOTEL NISEKO ALPEN
Situated at the base of the Grand Hirafu ski resort, the Niseko Alpen Hotel hosts an elegant onsen it’s first floor. The facilities include indoor and outdoor baths as well as a sauna and access to a large indoor swimming pool.
5. IKOINO YUYADO IROHA
Located at the base of Niseko Annupuri, this beautiful onsen uses natural, free-flowing water which is believed to be good for the skin.
Kanronomori has a large public onsen and also offers a private onsen for hire for 50 minutes for a more exclusive experience. Private onsen bookings are necessary so please call ahead.
7. KIRA NO YU
Kira No Yu is a local favourite, located right next to the Niseko JR railway station. This onsen features a modern design, large indoor baths and outdoor baths. Community events are often held here.
8. RANKOSHI KOGANE ONSEN
Kogane Onsen is tucked away in the quiet town of Rankoshi, which is just 10-20 minutes from the main resort areas of Niseko. This onsen is only open in summer and offers great views of the Annupuri mountains.
9. MAKKARI ONSEN
Located in the neighbouring town of Makkari, the Makkari Onsen offers full views of Mt. Yotei from stunning open-air baths. A sauna is also available.
10. NISEKO GRAND HOTEL
The Niseko Grand Hotel onsen features large indoor and outdoor baths in a tranquil forest setting. The outdoor “grand bath” is one of the few mixed baths in the area, allowing both men and women to bathe in the same onsen. Shorts and dresses are available for rent for those who wish to enter the mixed bath.

This historic, stunning onsen is one of the most famous in the area and offers day-spa packages as well as private baths Please call ahead to confirm availability. This onsen can only be visited as part of a day spa package or by staying guests.

Popular with locals, this onsen is located right next to Kombu station in Rankoshi. There are a number of different baths with different types of water. Each different type of bath is said to provide various health benefits. There are large indoor baths as well as smaller outdoor baths.

This onsen uses 100% naturally flowing hot spring water filled with natural minerals which are said to have numerous health benefits. The large communal bath has a historic feel, and one of the baths contains mud which is good for the skin.
