11 Cute Stamped Chameleon Cards and Project Ideas
Can you believe it's already September and that the trees will be changing colors soon? To go along with the idea of changing colors, we thought it would be fun to introduce a cute chameleon this month. I hope you enjoy seeing all these projects from the Technique Tuesday team featuring this month's new Chameleon Friends stamp set and matching dies.
Make Your Chameleon Match the Background
Since chameleons change colors to blend in with their background, why not do that on your next card? Seeka made the background by blending together blue and green ink and then adding some water splatters. She stamped the chameleon image. Then she colored it using alcohol markers that are close in color to the inks she used to make the background.
To finish her stamped chameleon card, Seeka die-cut out the chameleon and stamped the "You Color My World" sentiment. Seeka shares the marker colors and steps she used to make this stamped chameleon project over on her blog.
Design a Rainbow Background for Your Chameleon
Wouldn't this card be perfect for your friends who are always there for you? Allison stamped the chameleon for her card, colored him with Copic markers and die cut him out. To complement her adorable chameleon, she made a delightful, rainbow background using masking and ink blending techniques. Allison shares more details about how she made this chameleon card on her blog.
Make Chameleon Gift Tags and Lunchbox Notes
Wouldn't your kindergartener, college student, or spouse enjoy finding a tag like this on their next birthday present, in their lunchbox or in their pocket on a big day! To get started, Julie stamped the chameleon images. She used Prismacolor pencils to add color to one of the stamped chameleons and watercolors on the other one. Then she die cut each of the chameleon tags, using the largest of the Essential Stitched Label dies. Finally she added the "hope your day is one in a chameleon" sentiments and a stamped bug to each chameleon tag.
Create a Rainbow of Cute Bugs for Your Card
Oh.My.Gosh... the colorful stamped snake and rainbow of bugs on this card is so creative! And it's actually pretty easy to make. You can learn more over on Dana's blog about how to make this card and see which Copic markers she used.
Make Heat-Embossed Chameleon and Snake Cards
I love how the stamped chameleon pops against the neutral background on this card! Yasmin stamped and heat embossed the chameleon using white embossing powder. She colored the chameleon using watercolor markers and then die cut it out. She stamped one of the many sentiments included in the Chameleon Friends stamp set and heat embossed it using gold embossing powder. The sentiment and chameleon really stand out, yet look rather elegant, against the white and light gray background on her card.
Yasmin used the same shades of neutral cardstock and the same white, heat-embossing technique to make her second card. But instead of using the chameleon stamp, she used the cute snake stamp and a different sentiment from the Chameleon Friends stamp set. You can learn more about both of Yasmin's cards over on her blog.
Create a More Natural-Colored Chameleon Card
Here is another funny chameleon birthday card. Norine stamped the chameleon and used Copic markers to color him in shades of green and blue that you might find in a jungle or rain forest. After die-cutting out her chameleon, she added some die-cut fronds and a patterned paper background featuring the same colors she used on her stamped chameleon. To finish her card, she used the "Leaping lizards... it's your birthday" sentiment stamp and added a heart accent. Don't miss Norine's blog post where she shares the steps she used to make this chameleon birthday card!
Mix Chameleons and Snakes Together on Your Cards
When we designed the Chameleon Friends stamps and dies (and all of the sets of cute critters in the Animal House Collection) we wanted the animals to be able to play together on standard-sized cards. Dana's card shows how you can mix the chameleon stamp and his friend, the snake, together to make it seem like they are interacting with each other. Whether you are making cards for the young people in your life or are creating cards for adults, they will enjoy seeing the snake and chameleon together along with punny sentiments for all kinds of occasions.
Use a Monochromatic Color Scheme
This lovely, green, stamped snake card makes me smile. Allison stamped, colored and die cut out the snake. Then she used the Bubbles on the Border die to make the background for her card. The green circles and green snake look really nice together!

Make a Vivid Chameleon Shaker Card
Seed beads? Yes. Chunky glitter? Check. Sparkly sequins? Oh yeah. Vibrant colors? Without a doubt! Ana's supercute, chameleon shaker card has all this and more. This is one blog post you are not going to want to miss!
Frame Your Chameleon with a Chomped Die-cut Edge
I really love how Julie added interesting layers and a sense of leafiness to her chameleon birthday card! Julie stamped the chameleon and the snake images. She colored them using orange, green, and yellow watercolors. To make the chompy background, she used the jagged edge that is left over when you cut out the Stars on the Border die. Then she stamped the "Birthday Hisses" sentiment to finish her chameleon birthday card.
