Tom’s of Maine Charcoal Toothpaste Review.
You guys know that I love using this blog to be a human guinea pig. Testing + trying out new things is my favorite – there’s nothing better than making a fun new discovery. We’ve talked about activated charcoal deodorant and bathing in charcoal, I’ve done charcoal armpit detoxes… the whole thing. So when I found out that Tom’s of Maine had launched a new activated charcoal toothpaste, I had to try it out!
Tom’s of Maine Charcoal Toothpaste Review
Their Activated Charcoal toothpaste has so many amazing capabilities. For teeth, the biggest benefit is that it gently whitens teeth by removing surface stains. It is actually the gentlest charcoal toothpaste among natural brands based on RDA testing! There are a lot of brands making charcoal toothpastes. But if I am going to test one brand, it would be Tom’s of Maine. It’s made with sustainably sourced plant-based charcoal. Tom’s of Maine is a brand I really trust and that trust actually starts with my mom.
Growing up, we only used their toothpaste.
My mom was a little bit of a trailblazer with both food, beauty, and personal care products. We ate and used mostly organic and natural products, and she started using Tom’s of Maine because she knew that most toothpastes contained artificial sweeteners and wanted to choose the right products for us. (She actually drove 45 minutes to get it – going all the way to the health food shop 4 towns over to buy it!!! I didn’t appreciate this then but now I am so impressed.)
Tom’s of Maine got wind of this (okay I told them!) and sent my mom and I both the new activated charcoal toothpaste. We both love how clean and fresh our mouths felt afterward (it’s the natural peppermint flavor).
The best part though (okay maybe second best part, you know I like white teeth!) is that it’s good for you and good for the environment. The charcoal is sustainably sourced and plant-based, the packaging is fully recyclable through Tom’s of Maine Terracycle collection program, AND 10% of the brand’s profits go back to supporting people and the planet.
Its made with naturally derived ingredients and there is no SLS< artificial flavors, sweeteners, or preservatives. (There are two versions – flouride and flouride-free.)
