Around Here – May 2022

Lots going on around here since we are finally into Spring. Of course, I have to start with my irises.

Here is a link to a short video of my iris beds: iristour

Dave’s been busy in the garden and the greenhouse. Yesterday I caught him planting tomatoes.

Then I stopped by the greenhouse to check out some of the lettuce he’s growing, and we’ve been enjoying.

The blueberries are coming on.

The azaleas have been beautiful this year.

Even though I let the asparagus bed go, I’m still able to harvest this year. However, I have to pick through the weeds. It reminds me of an Easter egg hunt. You have to be careful where you step, and have to look real hard. This is how our patch looks this year.

We’ve had several meals so far including Asparagus Mimosa. Yum!

An ole friend of mine was talking about how she wanted some hostas in her yard. They had removed some large bushes from the front of the house, and for Mother’s Day she wanted that area in hostas. I just happen to have some hostas by the shed, so I told her I’d help her plant them. I also brought over some astilbes. We spent a Friday afternoon planting and mulching. She had never done this before, and it was so much fun showing her, and working with her on it. She was a great assistant! Here is Linda watering.

Her hubby Rick took a picture of us after we were finished. It was so much fun to spend time with Linda, and share with her one of my passions.

Dave has been making most of our bread since we’ve been together. He loves to experiment with grains, so I never know what he’s going to come up with. His breads include buns, rolls, hotdog buns, and a variety of breads. Here is a sandwich made with his sourdough sandwich bread that was grilled in the panini maker. Yum!

I’ve been wearing Birkenstocks for a long time. Around 30 years ago QVC had them on sale, and I bought four pair! Well, they are finally wearing out. They no longer make one of my favorite styles, but I did find this one which is close to that one. Love these! Now I am ready for summer!

As for art, the only thing I’ve done is dye some more scraps. I do have some ideas of what I’m going to do with these once the gardening chores are done.

Well, that’s all for now. Thanks for dropping by.
