BIG MOVIE: Keanu Reeves Cameo on Netflix Romcom ALWAYS BE MY MAYBE With Ali Wong

Always Be My Maybe

Keanu Reeves plays an exaggerated version of himself in Netflix romcom Always Be My Maybe.

He’s the guy Ali Wong’s restauranteur Sasha has freaky-ass sex with.

And then the pair double date with Randall Park’s Marcus and his girlfriend Jenny.

Always Be My Maybe is about two childhood sweethearts who grow up into vastly different socioeconomic situations and reconnect as adults.

Sasha is a celebrity chef who returns to San Francisco to open an restaurant while Marcus is a musician who lives at home and works for his Dad.

Cast: Ali Wong, Randall Park, Keanu Reeves, Daniel Dae Kim, Vivian Bang, Susan Park, Karen Soni, Charlyne Yi, Michelle Buteau, James Saito and Lyrics Born.

I didn’t see Ali Wong, Randall Park or Keanu Reeves when Always Be My Maybe filmed in Vancouver last year.

But did spot Vivian Bang as Jenny.

Daniel Dae Kim is the man who dumps Sasha which pushes her back into dating.

Sasha tells Marcus about the freaky-ass sex guy.

How did Mr. John Wick himself end up in the movie?

According to People, Ali Wong wanted all her love interests in the movie to be Asian-American men. She met with Keanu Reeves, who was a fan of her standup comedy, to discuss his involvement. I would be honoured to be a part of your love story, he accepted with a note. And improvised many of his lines.

Always Be My Maybe is written by Ali Wong, Randall Park and Michael Golamco and directed by Fresh Off The Boat showrunner Nahnatchka Khan.

The movie split production between Vancouver and San Francisco.

It filmed in Vancouver last year from late May to early July.

And was spotted shooting in Chinatown, the Biltmore Cabaret, Glowbal Restaurant in downtown Vancouver’s Telus Garden, Vancouver Art Gallery, a Lonsdale Quay gallery and a West Vancouver house.
