“call0bok” Turned Predator Ticket Into a WPTDeepStack Seat

Our ongoing Legend of the Week promotion continues giving partypoker players the chance to win life-changing sums of money. Legend of the Week rewards players with tournament tickets for events with a much higher buy-in than they are used to playing. Ukraine’s “call0bok” was the latest in a long line to turn his daily grind into a shot at the big time.

call0bok topped Leaderboard 4 of the Legend of the Week promotion, the leaderboard open to those playing the $22 Predator and the $22 Clasico. As a result of him finishing in first place on the leaderboard, call0bok receive a $1,100 entry to the recent WPTDeepStacks Main Event where a cool $1 million prize pool was guaranteed. We spoke to call0bok to learn more about him, his life, and his poker story.

“I live in Kiev, Ukraine,” call0bok told the partypoker blog. At the moment, I am engaged exclusively in poker, and have a small passive income. I started playing poker in 2012-13 with friends in home games. We got together and played for small stakes accompanied by drinks! I later began playing online poker and gradually started devoting more time to the game. Now, I approach the game more professionally and I’m trying to improve my skills to move up in limits.”

Taking Down The $22 Predator

The leaderboard winner found out about the Legend of the Week promotion on a Russian poker forum and made it his mission to finish in one of the higher places on Leaderboard 4. As it happens, that plan went well for him.

“The week went well, something of an oasis in the middle of a downswing. I was not enjoying much success, but things went good on partypoker. I managed to win the $22 Predator Daily Legends tournament, which put me in second or third place on the leaderboard. The next day, I reached the final table again, but finished in eighth place, which happened to be enough to win the leaderboard.”

call0bok received a $1,100 ticket for Day 1C of the $1 million guaranteed WPTDeepStacks Main Event. He sat down on the third flight hoping to make it through to Day 2, receive at least a min-cash, and rub shoulders with some of poker’s biggest names.

Playing in a $1,100 Online Event

Unfortunately, Day 1C did not quite work out for call0bok who crashed out of the tournament in 287th place. Although he missed out on yet more free money, the experience will stand him in good stead, plus he had the opportunity to play for a six-figure prize for free, and all for playing his favourite partypoker tournaments during the week.

Although disappointed not to make it into the WPTDeepStacks Main Event money place, call0bok is still a massive fan of the Legend of the Week promotion and our Daily Legends tournaments.

“It is an excellent promotion because you can earn money in the tournaments and receive tickets to more expensive events. In general, I like the promotions and satellites on partypoker. The $22 Predator is my favourite because I have won it a couple of times and it starts at a nice time. While I have conservative bankroll management and rarely play higher than $22 stakes, I am trying to progress to the $55 Gladiator and hope to win the Legend of the Week leaderboard for those limits.”
