Cerwin-Vega Launches SKAA-Enabled Wireless CVM Series Mixers
Eleven Engineering has announced that its proporietary SKAA Pro wireless technology has been incorporated in the recently announced CVM Series mixers from Cerwin-Vega that are expected to be available early next year.
“Cerwin-Vega’s recently released VEGA Series studio monitors with SKAA/SKAA Pro technology are already a hit, and so we are proud to once again incorporate these technologies in the new CVM Series mixers,” said Rex Whitehead, Eleven Engineering executive vice president – sales and marketing. “Today’s Pro DJ’s require fast and fixed very low latencies when going wireless, making SKAA the ideal solution for Cerwin-Vega’s new mixers that will satisfy these needs.”
“We are proud to present our new generation of high-technology mixers,” said Bob Chanthavongsa, Cerwin-Vega vice president of sales & marketing. “These versatile mixers can operate either in a standard wired mode or in a wireless mode, including Bluetooth and SKAA and SKAA Pro Modes, making them perfect for those DJ’s who enjoy the ease of connections in a great compact size with a rugged design. The embedded SKAA/SKAA Pro technology allows them the reliability and lighting fast latency required by today’s DJs, as well.”
SKAA transmitters work with iOS & Android mobile devices, Mac and Windows computers, televisions, and just about any product with a line output or a headphone jack. SKAA is also available as a built-in technology not requiring an external transmitter in purpose-designed partner products. CVM Series mixers communicate wirelessly via SKAA Pro Mode to their SKAA-compatible loudspeakers or power amplifiers. Additional features:
• 8, 10, 12 and 16 channels input models
• 3-band EQ on all microphone channels
• High-pass filters and adjustable compressors on all microphone channels
• USB/SD card recording/playback
• High-quality DSP effects
• Compact and lightweight design
• USB interface can connect to computer for playback and recording
• Ruggedized metal case
• High gain antenna for SKAA transmissions
“One of the principal disadvantages of using traditional wireless audio solutions in a pro audio setting is inherent latency issues and navigating through an abundance of wireless traffic,” Whitehead adds. “SKAA’s low latency ability is something that Bluetooth and WiFi audio-based solutions cannot accomplish for many reasons. However, there are even more demanding applications, such as critical studio and live performance (DJ) that require even lower latency. This is where SKAA Pro takes over.”
