How to Use Easel by TpT

Easel by TpT™ is a suite of digital tools that seamlessly integrate with TpT, empowering educators to easily create custom, interactive digital activities from their own original materials or by adapting one of the teacher-created resources from TpT.

Are you ready to make your lessons interactive and device-ready with Easel’s intuitive suite of digital tools?

How to Get Started with Easel by TpT

Easel’s flexible tools can be used with your entire teaching process. Get started using Easel with these simple steps.

1) Discover

Find hundreds of thousands of Easel-compatible resources on TpT by filtering for “Easel Activities” on the homepage or looking for the Easel label on the TpT resources you love.

You can also choose to upload your own PDFs* or even make an original resource from scratch. Click the “Create” button on the “My Activities” page of Easel, and you’ll be prompted to upload your files or start with a blank page.

Once you’ve decided which resource you want to customize — or if you want to create your own — open up Easel to begin preparing.

2) Prepare

Easel allows you to tailor each resource to your students’ needs. In “Prepare” mode, you take an existing resource and digitize it — or create your own resource from scratch — so your students can work with it on a device. You’ll customize and make your resources interactive by adding answer boxes, instructions to students, movable shapes, and more.

Then, use “Preview” mode to see how your resources will look for your students. Click the “Preview” tab and try out the interactive elements, like any text answer boxes you’ve added, to make sure they’re ready for your students.

3) Instruct

You can also use all the annotation tools in “Preview” mode to turn your screen into a digital whiteboard. Share your screen in real-time so that students can follow along. None of the annotations you make in “Preview” mode will carry over once you assign it, so it wipes clean after you’re done modeling your lesson.

4) Assign

You can assign your digital activity in one of three ways: (1) through Google Classroom, (2) by generating a unique URL and pasting it into the learning management system (LMS) of your choice, or (3) by emailing the URL to your students. Your students will get a code that allows them to complete the activity with the same set of annotation tools (minus the ability to add answer boxes or make static shapes movable) and turn it in to you for review — all online.

5. Review

On the “Assign & Review” section or on the “My Activities” page, you can view which students have turned in their work and review submitted work by quickly scrolling through each response. Simply click on the activity you want to view, and look for the class roster at the top. Use the drop-down menu to see who has turned in their work and then use the arrows to easily move through each response.
