Linkin Park announce Hybrid Theory 20th anniversary boxsets

Linkin Park’s seminal debut album Hybrid Theory turns 20 this year.

To mark the occasion, the band is launching a campaign that includes a capsule collection of anniversary merch, along with a massive vinyl boxset. 

Released at the turn of the millennium, the album established their penchant for radio-friendly hooks at the height of nu metal’s popularity. It’s no surprise that the album has sold 27 million copies, making it the best-selling rock album of the 21st century so far.  

For vinyl, the 20th-anniversary edition of the album will come in two distinct versions. The standard version comprises of Hybrid Theory and remix album Reanimation, along with an additional B-Side Rarities compilation — all pressed on black vinyl. 

The super deluxe version is a hefty beast. Along with the inclusion of both albums, the boxset features the first-ever vinyl pressing of their sole EP as Hybrid Theory, originally released in 1999. 

Also included are an assortment of CDs that feature demos, B-sides and live recordings, an 80-page book, and exclusive litho art prints. There are also more era-appropriate goodies, including a reproduction of the band’s early cassette sampler and a replica backstage pass (who else dreamt of attending the ‘Projekt Revolution’ tour as a kid?).

“It’s incredible to think it’s been 20 years since Hybrid Theory was released,” reads the band’s statement on their website.

“All gratitude to our fans who made this epic journey we started 20 years ago possible. We dedicate our music to you. We rededicate our Hybrid Theory to you.”
