This week we have a lovely version of Music for 18 Musicians by Erik Hall and a new release from I Break Horses, among others. There’s also a new release from Denison Witmer called ‘Amerian Foursquare’ on Sufjan’s Asthmatic Kitty label.

The one we went for this week should come as no real surprise, as Mr. Lanegan has always been a favourite around these parts. His new album ‘Straight Songs of Sorrow’ is varied and takes the listener on quite a journey.

“One or two songs such as Bleed All Over are standard-issue Lanegan of the last five or six years, and are unremarkable.  A minor complaint though with 15 songs to choose from.  It’s a lot to digest, and it will take several listens to take it all in.  But there’s a depth and wealth of material here, as good as anything he’s done previously.” – Killian Laher
