Minor final tickets now on sale

This year’s All-Ireland Minor football Championship final between Mayo and Galway has, as you know, been fixed for Dr Hyde Park, Roscommon, on Friday 8th July at 7.15pm.

Playing the All-Ireland decider at an easily accessible venue within the province should mean there’s a bumper crowd there for it. Proper order too – these are two fine teams, our bucks are the Connacht champions, unbeaten after seven matches in this competition, while the young Tribesmen recovered from a Connacht final defeat to us to take out Leinster champions Dublin followed by Derry to reach the Markham Cup decider.

Tickets for the final went on sale earlier on today. General admission to the ground costs just €15 with free admission for U16s, for whom no ticket is required. For an All-Ireland final, that’s seriously good value, not least in these inflationary times.

Even the weather looks like it’s going to play ball, with the Azores high expected to move up over the country from the middle of next week. This raises the prospect of it being a perfect evening for football so it has the makings of a quite a special occasion.

While the Galway folk still have a bit more shouting to be doing this year, Friday week is, bar the women footballers, our last inter-county outing of 2022. That’s good enough reason for Mayo supporters to come out in force to shout for the Minors but, more to the point, as I saw for myself at O’Connor Park in Tullamore last Saturday, they’re a great bunch of lads, who deserve the county’s full support.

So, what are waiting for? Get your ticket for the final NOW – you can do this here. Tickets are also available for purchase from selected SuperValu and Centra outlets.

We’ll have a Minor final preview episode of the podcast online early next week, that’ll be available to club members on Patreon. Join the club here.
