Den Døde Sol, the enraged second LP from Copenhagen, Denmark-based hardcore outfit NYT LIV, is officially out today through their allies at Indisciplinarian.

NYT LIV has made a name for themselves in recent years with the self-released Livet Brænder EP in 2017, and debut album, Ensomhedens Kolde Kald, released via Indisciplinarian in May 2019. The response to the album led to the band performing at Roskilde Festival, Copenhell, SPOT Festival, and more, as well as shows supporting likeminded artists such as Cancer Bats and Turnstile.

On their second album, Den Døde Sol (“The Dead Sun”), NYT LIV is in a more forceful and vigorous state, expanding the framework of irate, alternative hardcore. Shaped as straight forward Danish poetry without use of sophisticated words and metaphors, the lyrics are about life and social indignation. The album was recorded with producer Jacob Bredahl (LLNN, Lifesick) and mastered by Brad Boatright (Nails, Ceremony, Modern Life Is War). Lasse Høgh (Nyredolk) has created the artwork based on guitarist Martin Goltermann’s photographs of Copenhagen and Zealand at dusk. Fans of Turnstile, Kvelertak, Modern Life Is War, and Gallows should not miss NYT LIV.

Vocalist Michael Aagesen writes, “Compared to the last album, we think this album turned out tougher and more straight-to-the-point but at the same time it is also increasingly experimental. The lyrics are personal stories about lonely, weak, odd but also manipulating and cynical people. We find that the photographs used for the artwork of this record sums up the lyrical themes and feelings.”

NYT LIV are the latest in line of superb Scandinavian hardcore artists who seem to have a little something extra. Very much worth your time.” – Metal Hammer

“…genre-crossing sound, blending elements of punk and hardcore into a whirlwind alternative cocktail.” – New Noise Magazine

“…Den Døde Sol is a total shot in the arm, played expertly by a group who clearly knows what they are doing. For a band whose name means new life, it surely gives that feeling to listeners, ample energy and heaviness perfectly balanced with a hardcore heart. NYT LIV should be on your radar, especially if melodic hardcore is something that you crave. 4/5” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“Whilst NYT LIV may be a relatively new proposition for many, it’s unlikely the Danish alt-hardcore group will remain an obscure entity for long, especially with material such as this… With Den Døde Sol having been mastered by Brad Boatright (Nails) and produced by Jacob Bredahl (LLNN), NYT LIV are a grim act for an increasingly cold age.” – Noizze
