Oris - Aquis Date Calibre 400
Oris introduced the new Calibre 400, a new in-house developed automatic movement that offers a five-day power reserve (120 hours), is highly resistant to magnetism, and comes with 10-year recommended service intervals and a 10-year warranty after web registration.
The first watch to carry this new movement is the Aquis Date Calibre 400.
The new Aquis Date, powered by Calibre 400, has a number of differences compared to the standard model beginning with the words ‘5 days’ written on the gradient blue dial. The date window is also larger and the date disc is black, rather than white.
The watch maintains its waterproofness to 30 bar (300 metres / 990 feet), the screw-in security crown with guards, the unidirectional rotating bezel with a scratch-proof ceramic insert for safely timing dives, and Super-LumiNova filled hands and indices.
On the reverse, the sapphire case back of the 43.50 mm stainless steel case displays the movement that beats at the frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour).
A new wheel design into the gear train delivers greater efficiency. In fact, Calibre 400 retains 85 per cent of the energy transferred from the mainspring, compared to a norm of around 70 per cent.
Silicon is used for the anchor and escape wheel, and other non-ferrous materials for the axes that hold the balance wheel, escape wheel and anchor in place. Around a further 30 parts are made of non-ferrous materials or non-magnetic alloys so that the impact of magnetic fields on the accuracy of Calibre 400 is reduced by more than 90 per cent compared to standard Swiss Made mechanical movements.
According to Oris, the movement offers an accuracy of -3/+5 seconds a day, a performance that is in line with COSC requirements for chronometers.
The watch is also equipped with Oris’s newest patented development, the Quick Strap Change system that makes it possible to release a bracelet or a strap by simply lifting a flap and without requiring any tool.
The new Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400 (ref. 400 7763 4135-07 8 24 09PEB) has a retail price of Euro 3,000 / US$ 3,500 with metal bracelet or Euro 2,900 / US$ 3,300 with rubber strap. oris.ch
