Paper Talk: Liverpool, Arsenal in battle to sign LaLiga sensation who has €80m exit clause; three clubs approach Rudiger over summer move
Liverpool and Arsenal are chasing an exciting Villarreal winger who has an €80m release clause, while Friday’s transfer gossip claims that Antonio Rudiger has been approached by three clubs over a Chelsea exit.
LIVERPOOL, ARSENAL MOVE FOR VILLARREAL STAR
Arsenal and Liverpool have reportedly contacted Villarreal over a move for winger Yeremy Pino, who is also wanted by Real Madrid.
Spanish outlet El Desmarque reports that the Premier League duo have established contact with the LaLiga outfit for a player who has a release clause of €80million.
The 19-year-old attacker has made huge strides since joining Villarreal from CD Roda in July 2019. Pino has notched seven goals and added four assists in 34 appearances this season.
Pino has also appeared for the Spain senior side, while also penning a new Villarreal deal to include that whopping exit clause.
But the player’s rapid progress has not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid, Arsenal, and Liverpool all monitoring his progress.
Real are chasing Pino after running out of patience with Eden Hazard, who is likely to leave this summer.
Arsenal’s interest is no great surprise, given Mikel Arteta’s focus on using young, hungry players at The Emirates.
As for Liverpool, they already have an abundance of attacking talent. However, the contracts of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are all winding down and the Anfield outfit are already looking to the future.
Diogo Jota was added to the squad in the summer of 2020, while Luis Diaz arrived in the January window.
TRIO OF CLUBS APPROACH RUDIGER OVER MOVE
Antonio Rudiger has reportedly been approached by three clubs amid sanctions imposed on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.
The Blues have been slapped with a transfer ban and are unable to sign reinforcements or hand out new contracts to current players such as Rudiger, whose deal runs out in June.
According to respected transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the defender has been approached by three clubs and will decide his future soon.
Romano doesn’t actually mention which clubs are involved. However, Manchester United, PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona have all been strongly linked.
The 29-year-old is enjoying another outstanding season for the Blues. He has scored three times in 39 appearances in all competitions.
ARSENAL TO SWOOP FOR VILLA STARLET
Arsenal are expected to have a busy summer, with as many as six players potentially arriving at the club.
And according to the Evening Standard, Aston Villa midfield starlet Carney Chukwuemeka is very much on their radar.
Arteta has enjoyed major success by turning to Arsenal’s younger players. And it appears he is ready to follow their trend with new signings.
Chukwuemeka, 18, is widely regarded as one of the most gifted players to come out of the Villa academy in recent years.
However, he has yet to establish himself as a first-team regular at Villa Park and that has led to doubts that he could remain at the club.
With that in mind, the Gunners are ready to take advantage – if Villa are ready to do business.
RANGERS STAR TIPPED FOR SUMMER EXIT
Rangers defender Jack Simpson reoprtedly remains the subject of interest from Birmingham, according to Football Insider.
Birmingham, along with fellow Championship side Middlesbrough, made contact with the Ibrox outfit over a potential deal for Simpson late in the January transfer window but ultimately ran out of time.
The young Englishman only moved to Glasgow from Bournemouth a little over a year ago.
But he’s only made six appearances so far this season, totalling a just 324 minutes of football.
He is currently valued at £900,000 by Transfermarkt, and he has three years left on his contract.
