Romantic Passionate & Intimate Black Tie Wedding With Pampas Grass
A warm welcome to Ashley and Lyndsey who are sharing their romantic Ponden Mill wedding in Yorkshire, which was all kinds of glam. Think black tie dress code, pampass grass and big fat smiles all day long. Not to mention lots of dancefloor shenanigans!
Ashley and Lyndsey wanted a casual party vibe to their day with all their nearest and dearest surrounding them. They certainly pulled it off as it looked as though everyone had such a blast. I really love the dried flower bouquet, the stylish outfits and that epic confetti throw too. Such fun.
Heather Butterworth Photography, thank you so much for sharing these totally joyful images of a really wonderful celebration.
As keen travellers, Lyndsey and I had planned to go on a trip to Borneo, Malaysia for some exploring, adventuring and sightseeing. I decided I wanted to make this the destination of my proposal but wasn’t quite sure how I would do it – but, first thing is first, the ring.
I researched rings far and wide and while my knowledge of diamonds grew, so did my shortlist. I decided on a ring from Samara James in London so I booked an appointment and then proceeded to rule out rings that I thought wouldn’t suit Lyndsey’s hands, often looking at pictures of her on Facebook to remind myself of how dainty her hands were and how long her fingers were.
When I got to Samara James they were fantastic in guiding me through the process allowing me to individualise the ring and choose the one that was so perfect, it brought a tear to my eye.
Weeks later I popped around Lyndsey’s parents to request permission from her dad to ask for her hand in marriage and they could not have been more made up.
We left for Borneo and I thought that I would propose on top of Mount Kinabalu, as keen hikers I thought this was romantic, however when we got to the top, due to altitude sickness, exhaustion and lack of sleep I decided against the idea.
As a bit of R&R we hiked down the mountain, on to a boat, and over to a tropical island and a five-star resort where I proposed on the balcony of our sea villa in private overlooking a sunset and the mountain we had just climbed.
We both knew we wanted our wedding to be casual, relaxed, fun, personal and including only our nearest and dearest. We wanted a party, not a ceremony.
The Ceremony & Music
The ceremony was intimate and intense with James Bay’s Wild Love playing just before we said our vows and as Lyndsey walked down the aisle.
Your Photographer & Filmmaker
Heather Butterworth Photography did the photos and the video, they work as a couple and take incredible ‘in action’ photography which captures the moments.
Ponden Mill – A new venue that was hosting weddings inside an old cotton mill in the heart of the Yorkshire dales.
Ashley and the groom’s party were in dark blue tuxedos from Suitors, this is after watching Daniel Craig in a Bond film go to a ball in one and always wanting that for his wedding.
Lyndsey got a slim fit, modest yet elegant dress from Wed2B.
The Styling & Decor
Mave Weddings and Events created a simple, organic, natural and elegant feel using creams and soft beige with pampas, candles and delicately placed vases.
The flowers were dry flowers from Lily and Willow Florals, they were made up of glowing ambers, soft reds and white/beige/neutral pampas.
We decided to drive the North Coast 500 in a 4×4 with a pop-up tent, cooking stove, fridge and all the utensils to keep us independent on the road exploring Scotland’s finest for ten days.
We travelled up the East and down the West stopping at all of the key areas to swim in the seas, climb the mountains and sleep under the stars.
