This weekend’s matches
It’s midweek so already it’s time to be thinking about the matches involving the county that are on this coming weekend.
This time there are four such matches, one in U17 football, two in hurling and one in women’s football, with one game on Friday, two on Saturday and one on Sunday. Here are the details you need on all of them.
On Friday evening, the U17 footballers are in action in the Connacht Championship. With three wins from three outings, Seán Deane’s charges face a tougher test this weekend, as they take on Galway, who are unbeaten in their two outings to date. A win for our lads on Friday evening will confirm their place in the Connacht final but even if they lose they’re still guaranteed a semi-final slot.
The match is fixed for Tuam Stadium and throw-in is 7pm on Friday evening. Tickets for this game are available to purchase here. The match is also being streamed live by Connacht GAA (at a cost of €10), details here.
First up on Saturday, at Adrian Freeman Park, Tooreen, the county’s U17 hurlers play Kildare in the Celtic Challenge semi-final. That tie throws in at midday. I’ve no link for tickets for that game – if anyone does, you might let me know or pop the details into the comments.
Next up on Saturday are the county’s Senior hurlers. They’re back in action at MacHale Park, where they’re set to face Derry in Round 5 of the Christy Ring Cup (throw-in 1pm). This is a winner-take-all clash with the victors advancing to the final of the competition, where Kildare await.
Tickets for this game are available to purchase here and you can also get tickets in selected Centra and SuperValu outlets.
Then on Sunday it’s the turn of the women footballers. They’re in action against Galway in the LGFA Connacht SFC final and that game throws in at Tuam Stadium at 4pm. It’s a double-header at St Jarlath’s Park that afternoon, by the way, with the Intermediate final between Leitrim and Roscommon getting underway at the venue at 2pm.
Tickets for this provincial decider are available to purchase here and Connacht LGFA are live streaming both games (day pass €15) – details here.
The best of luck to all the Mayo teams in action this coming weekend.
