Where to go on Record Store Day 2020 in Singapore: August
This year’s Record Store Day (RSD) situation is unusual. But given the current circumstances? Fairly responsible.
What was supposed to be an annual tradition in April has been disrupted with the ongoing pandemic. We’re now getting an entire slate of record releases split into three mini-RSD celebrations in August, September, and October.
The first one, coming up on August 29, will see some of the promised exclusive titles emerge from the lull.
While stores are generally keeping mum about the records that have arrived in Singapore (or will arrive this weekend, because shipping delays be damned), here are the stores that will carry this first batch of RSD delights.
The full list of official RSD 2020 releases can be found here.
Previously located at Peninsula Shopping Centre, the record store and former recording studio space has found a new home at Arab Street.
Keeping with tradition from previous years hosting the annual holiday, Mosta Records will slot various RSD titles amongst their existing catalogue at random. Their list of exclusives are still unknown, and they’re keeping it that way.

Taking a different route from Mosta are Retrophonic Records, who’ve taken the liberty to generously publish their list of exclusives on Facebook.
It’s a hefty one — highlights include the much-coveted picture disc reissues of later-day Cure albums, along with a new version of Billie Eilish’s Live at Third Man Records album. Their sister shop Wow Acoustics will be selling some exclusives as well.
The event is amped up with a live-streamed performance and an exclusive tote bag with partner Vibratone Academy. You wouldn’t want to miss out. More details here.

The Analog Vault
Our friends at The Analog Vault received their shipment earlier this week (pictured below vibing with our editor).
They’re also keeping mum about the titles they have, but keep a lookout on their socials for they just might reveal some secrets — or you can head down early to get dibs. Their existing inventory of records will also be available at 10% off (20% if you’re a member).
Some of these stores and more will be giving away Record Store Day totebags courtesy of Fred Perry, so don’t fret about lugging around those new finds.

This is just a small list of stores carrying exclusives.
Vinyl Kakis recently shipped in a batch of new reissues from HMV Japan’s CITY POP on VINYL 2020 event, while Straits Records are continuing their pop-up residency at The Substation. Pick up something this weekend!
