YouTube Music app to replace Play Music as a preinstalled app on future phones

YouTube Music App

Youtube Music app replaces Google Play Music app as a native preinstalled app on future Android devices.

Google Inc is replacing the Play Music Android application with YouTube Music app as part of Google Apps package of preinstalled apps. Meaning the YouTube Music app is now officially part of the licensing deal Google makes with mobile makers, and so Google Play Music app will no longer come preinstalled on our future Android 10 and Android 9 running devices, but as an app available in the Play store.

Makes sense for Google to replace it since YouTube is one of the largest music libraries on the Internet today, and while Google Play Music service is not bad at all, its music library dont come even close to what YouTube has to offer.

Besides, YouTube Music app and service is now available globally in more countries than ever.

If you are a subscriber to Google Play Music service and have all your music playlists there don’t worry, Google is not retiring its service. At least not yet. But it makes sense to migrate everything into its YouTube Music service at some point.
