Tiger Woods is 'awake, responsive & recovering' after undergoing surgery post fatal car crash in LA

Tiger Woods has released a detailed statement after his fatal car crash that took place on 23 February. The professional golfer took to social media to release his statement and revealed in the same that he has undergone a lengthy surgery and is currently being nursed back to health. Tiger was involved in a 'single car accident' and has now been treated on his lower right leg and ankle after being brought to the hospital.

The statement read, "We thank everyone for the overwhelming support and messages during this tough time. As previously communicated, Tiger was involved in a single-car accident earlier this morning in California. He has undergone a long surgical procedure on his lower right leg and ankle after being brought to the hospital." 

Tiger was treated by Dr Anish Mahajan at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center who stated that the golfer "suffered significant orthopaedic injuries". The surgery involved stabilizing the fractures by "inserting a rod into the tibia." 

The statement further added, "He is currently awake, responsive, and recovering in his hospital room. Thank you to the wonderful doctors and hospital staff at Harbor UCLA Medical Center, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and the Fire Department. Your support and assistance has been outstanding. There are no further updates at this time and we continue to thank you for your well-wishes and privacy for him and his family. – TGR." 

 

 

Soon after the accident, Woods' agent reached out to give a statement, in which he mentioned the golfer was the sole occupant and was removed from the wreckage by a team of firefighters and paramedics.
