Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is due for a full reveal later this week, the blockbuster movie sequel set to appear during The Game Awards 2021.
Since it was teased, fans have been guessing who will play Sonic’s loyal sidekick, Tails, in the upcoming film.
It has now been confirmed that Colleen O’Shaughnessey will lend her voice to the iconic Sega character. While not as well as known as co-stars such as Ben Schwartz (Sonic), Idris Elba (Knuckles), and Jim Carey (Eggman), this news will delight die-hard Sonic the Hedgehog fans. O’Shaughnessey has voiced Tails in numerous games for the best part of a decade since Sonic Boom. Other voice credits include Final Fantasy VII Remake, Persona 5 Strikers, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
Taking my old pal Tails for another adventure. Thrilled to announce I’m the voice of Miles “Tails” Prower in #SonicMovie2! Can’t wait for y’all to see him on the big screen.

Tails made a very brief appearance at the end of the first Sonic the Hedgehog movie with a subsequent logo reveal also pointing to the character’s inclusion in a sequel. We also know that Knuckles will help fill out the cast though we’ve yet to see if Sonic 2 will go even deeper. Is there a chance we could see Bigs the Cat?
With the original movie having appeared on Netflix, there’s been a sudden burst of interest surrounding the sequel. As previously mentioned, a trailer will debut at The Game Awards. Here’s a look at the first poster.
