What is happening in the Season of Legends?
The Season of Legends will bring a host of changes to Pokemon GO. It kicks off on March 1 at 10 am local time and will run until June 1 at 8 am.
Alongside Therian Forme Tornadus, Therian Forme Thundurus, and Therian Forme Landorus, Niantic teases that brand new Legendary Pokemon and Mega Evolutions will be joining the game.
There will also be a shake-up of the Pokemon appearing in the wild and in eggs. Niantic especially mentions the likes of Frillish, Glameow and Hoppip. It’s also stated that there will be hemisphere specific Pokemon. Some of them are as follows:
Northern hemisphere: Tangela, Combee, Croagunk, Ducklett, Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Scyther, Dratini, and Cottonee.
Southern hemisphere: Mankey, Yanma, Buizel, Woobat, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott Pineco, Bagon, and Ferroseed.
Niantic also confirms there will be a Special Research challenge focused around the Therian Forme Pokemon, with rewards that include candy for the three Legendaries. Finally, they confirm that “March Community Day, GO Battle League Season 7, all-new events, and more will be coming.”
What are the Therian Forme Pokemon?
The Therian Forme Pokemon are different variations of Tornadus, Thundurus and Landorus. Their Therian Formes see them take more of an animalistic shape. It is unclear which of the Formes (Incarnate or Therian) are the true Formes of the trio.
Stat wise, Tornadus loses some Attack/Special Attack stats to bulk up defensively, Thundurus’ Speed and Attack drops in favour of stronger Special Attack and Landorus drops some Speed and Special Attack to buff its Attack stat.
It remains to be seen what impact this will have on the meta.
March Community Day
It was previously confirmed that March Community Day would feature Fletchling. The Tiny Robin Pokemon will be appearing more frequently in the wild, with an increased shiny rate. Any Fletchinder that is evolved into a Talonflame during the event window will learn Incinerate.
