Walmart 4K Android TV Box will be bringing an impressive array of features without burning a hole in your pocket.

Living up to its reputation for offering products that don’t cost a bomb, Walmart has adopted a similar strategy for its upcoming 4K Android TV Box.

The device is called Walmart Onn. It seems all set to compete with popular brands such as Tivo Stream 4K, Google TV, and Chromecast.

Moreover, it is expected to be an easy solution for those unwilling to spend a lot of money on an Android TV box.

Price and availability

Originally spotted by 9to5Google, the device was listed on Walmart’s website. The device has been taken down from the listing page, which suggests it is either “unavailable or on backorder.”

Shortly after the article was published on May 6, the price for the Walmart 4K Android TV Box also went live. The Walmart Onn streamer brings 4K Android TV for only $29.88.

That’s a very compelling product even compared to Chromecast. However, this price wasn’t showing up consistently, suggesting that it could be a mistake.

According to 9To5Google’s Brickseek searches in its location and its tipster, the device wasn’t available for purchase in local stores or on the website at the time. The publication’s senior editor Ben Schoon suggests the device could go up for sale next week.

Walmart 4K Android TV Box’s specs and features

Despite carrying an affordable price tag, the Android TV box is capable of delivering 4K over HDMI. Aside from that, it supports Dolby Audio.

On the downside, the device draws its power from a micro USB port. This isn’t a big issue considering that it will remain plugged in at all times and the cable comes with the product.

The box supports 2.4GHz, as well as 5GHz WiFi networks. It comes with a feature-laden remote. The remote has quick access buttons for HBO Max, Disney+, Netflix, YouTube, and a slew of other popular video apps.

It is worth mentioning here this is not Walmart’s previously leaked streaming stick. Walmart is likely to launch a budget-friendly 2K Android TV stick, or this 4K box could replace the one that was leaked earlier, according to Android Police.

Walmart could announce hardware soon. However, consumers could still go for steeply-priced Android TV hardware since they are more advanced streaming players.

Products such as Google’s Chromecast, which comes with Google TV, usually support HDR video and deliver advanced sound formats such as Dolby Atmos. On top of that, a pricier Android TV box usually packs faster hardware.
